That made the disciples very sad. However, Jesus comforted them, saying: “… it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you.” In another place, He reassures His people with a great promise: “When the Sprit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth.” And again, before the Ascension, He reassures His followers by commanding them to stay in Jerusalem, where the great promise was to be fulfilled. “For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” (Acts 1) This year the believers will celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on June 12th, 50 days after Easter. Scripture verse after reading of Acts 2. “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:37) Bible Fact: The Old Testament Pentecost (50 days after Israel was freed from slavery in Egypt) celebrated the Feast of Weeks, which commemorated giving of the Law on Stone to Moses. Christians celebrate on that day the Holy Spirit who wrote the Law on our hearts. 3rd week of June The Holy Spirit in Our Daily Life Lesson Summary The Holy Spirit came down on the 1st Church with great signs and miracles. The Book of Acts says that there were flames of fire resting on the heads of believers, speaking in tongues… What about today? The Bible says that the Holy Spirit is just as active in the lives of God’s people two thousand years after the Pentecost. It is God’s Holy Spirit that makes the believers new day by day, provides strength, convicts of sin, and intercedes for His people. The life of the Christian becomes fruitful, bringing glory to the Savior. During this lesson we can examine our lives and see what type of work the Holy Spirit is able to produce in our lives. Scripture verse after reading from the letter to Galatians 5:22-26 “But the fruit of the sprit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…” (Galatians 5:22) Bible Fact: Paul wrote this letter to the church located in Galatia, which is a region of modern day Asia Minor, East of historical Armenia.
