The Armenian Church of Seattle was established in November 1981. The 1st Badarak was held on Palm Sunday of 1980 in the St. Paul Episcopal Church by Abp. Vatche Hovsepian, Primate. In the early years the community was served by visiting priests sent by the Western Diocese on a monthly basis. Beginning in 1991, the church welcomed over 300 families from the troubled Baku area. An Armenian Language School was established. The Parish Council in August 1982 decided to publish a monthly Newsletter; and in March 1992 the bulletin was named Madur. Currently, Madur is published as a tri-lingual bulletin in Armenian, English, and Russian. The Parish purchased a beautiful parcel of land in a wooded area in Redmond, Washington in 1999. Since acquiring the property, traditional Armenian picnics have been held every summer. Fr. Yeghia was assigned as the visiting priest by Abp. Vatche in 2002. With the wish of the parish, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian named Rev. Fr. Yeghia Isayan the permanent priest as of June 2003. Electricity and water have been installed on the church property as of January 2006. A successful 25th anniversary Dinner & Fundraising Gala was held on February 18, 2006. The Groundbreaking ceremony was performed by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian on May 15th 2010. Church Services are currently held twice a month at the St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Seattle. The Church is currently under construction and with God willing, will be completed soon.
